where it all started
Nearly forty years ago, TJ and Rita Reasons purchased the ranch property, which then held only a barn, and began building it from the ground up. Following TJ’s passing in 2014, Rita maintained their shared vision through her personal income, alongside dedicated support from family, friends, and volunteers. Recognizing the widespread need for animal care, she expanded the facility into a safe haven for neglected animals and officially received 501(c)(3) non-profit certification in January 2018.
Today, Reasons Rescue Ranch provides a loving, safe sanctuary where animals can either live out their lives or be adopted into permanent homes. Supported by hardworking volunteers and generous donors, 100% of all contributions go directly toward animal care. Our core mission remains absolute: to ensure no animal is left behind or ever suffers again.

How We Make A Difference

BUTTERMILK, another kill-pen rescue arrived pregnant, sick, battered and terrified. She sadly lost her foal but is flourishing today.
River had been living alone in a pasture for three years with little human contact, outside of hay being thrown to her. Today, River is flourishing and enjoying her new life on the ranch.
These 5 little kittens were found under a bush. Alone, sick and starving. Today they are happily living on the ranch!
